The Marin County Flood Control & Water Conservation District (District) will host the third and final community meeting for the Marin City Stormwater Plan on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the newly reopened Marin City Arts Gallery, located at 100 Donahue Street, Suite 160-B, in Marin City.

The District has developed a comprehensive Stormwater Plan aimed at reducing flood risk in Marin City, an unincorporated neighborhood near Richardson Bay. The goal of the Plan is to address existing flooding conditions and identify potential solutions that enhance flood resilience in Marin City while accounting for community priorities.

During storm season and high tides, the Marin City neighborhood is regularly impacted by flooding tied to challenging drainage issues. Without improvements, this flooding may worsen and occur more frequently. The Plan pinpoints areas for flood risk mitigation and drainage improvement. It provides recommendations for potential projects that local, regional, state, or federal agencies could implement. Additionally, the plan supports grant funding applications necessary for project implementation.

The March 25 event will be an open house format, providing the Marin City community with an opportunity to review the Executive Summary of the Stormwater Plan and learn more about the recommendations developed. There will be exhibits covering each chapter of the Plan, and staff available to answer questions. All members of the community are invited to this meeting. The community’s participation is crucial in carrying forward effective flood risk reduction options.

Following the open house, Marin City Arts & Culture will lead a presentation related to beautification of the proposed Marin City Flood Improvement Gateway Pump Station. The pump station improvement concept is one component of the Stormwater Plan. The purpose of this presentation is to share the objectives and methods to be used for improving the aesthetics of the potential pump station. Via a visual timeline, information will be provided on the role of the District relative to other agencies, County of Marin departments, and Marin City studies/projects/initiatives .

The community is encouraged to attend the in-person meeting on March 25 and stay engaged as the Plan report is completed in Spring 2025. To see the project timeline and stay up to date on project development, residents can visit the project webpage. Information from the first two community meetings and the five Task Force events can be found in the Documents section of the webpage.
