Work description: The Marin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (“District”) maintains flood control facilities throughout the County of Marin including the Timber-Reinforced Berm (TRB) on top of the earthen levee located along the right bank of South Fork of Gallinas Creek in the community of Santa Venetia in unincorporated San Rafael. The District is requesting proposals for maintaining dilapidated portions of the TRB. To avoid Ridgway’s Rail breeding season and rainstorms, the work will be scheduled to occur from September 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025.
The intention of the contract for the Timber-Reinforced Berm Maintenance is to fix approximately 90 lineal feet of the two timber bulkheads backfilled with soil in Flood Zone 7. The bidder who enters into a contract with the District shall:
- Remove the berm wood structure and hardware
- Retain the berm box soil fill material and add imported soil where it has eroded away
- Fill and compact excavations left open from pre-existing tree stump grinding
- Replace the bulkheads with new pressure treated wood and zinc plated hardware
